　Yingge is a type of public square dance integrating choreography from dances, southern martial arts, and operas. Yingge, popular in Guangdong and Fujian Provinces, is performed by males who usually act as the heroes from ‘the Liang Mountain water marshes’ and the performances are grandiose and give a strong heroic vibe. A band of yingge performers usually comprises 16 to 24 people, sometimes 32 to 36, and can even sometimes reach as many 108 performers.
